my elder of an uncle came to visit recently and taking note of how crappy-go-f#@ky and bored of life i seemed starts in "why don't you want to go to the hall?

what changed?

My elder of an uncle came to visit recently and taking note of how crappy-go-f#@ky and bored of life I seemed starts in "Why don't you want to go to the hall? What changed?" I give him the rundown of my disappointments in god, my issues with the bible, and how the religion is basically formed on the interpretations of Russell and/or Rutherford. And he goes "Write down on paper where you think the bible contradicts itself. The bible has been made in such a way that it purges itself." Now honestly, I could give a damn about locating something to bring to him, because even if I did he'd find some loophole to support his belief in it and I can't take that down. And in other news, I had a migraine headache and didn't want to go to the hall during my unc's visit and my other aunt is all "You're going with the family". Now, any other time I'm not going, but my out of town uncle comes and then it becomes necessary. Am I alone in thinking that the reason I went was more about looking a certain way to other dubs than it was receiving the MESSage? I mean, if it wasn't important that I go any other time why does my elder unc's visit have my aunt being adamant now? I just want it to be over........please.

so i went to pick my aunt up from the diamond lane pick up point on wednesday and i ask her if her witness buddy is going to pick her up.

she says "no i don't want to call her because i'm going home to change and that'll make her late.

" so i chime in "why don't you wear what you have on?

So what would happen if you took a guy from Scotland and brought him over here and some girl from here and put her over there? It's all a matter of perception. There are no "girl" colors even though a number of people would say "pink or purple is for girls". Anyway, saying that she's gonna get info just means I stumped her. I never denied that different outfits are attributed to different circumstances, but we aren't talking fighting fires or handling plutonium. This is pure-T planting ass in a chair for 2 hours and being the biggest group of yes-men since bobbleheads.

So I went to pick my aunt up from the diamond lane pick up point on Wednesday and I ask her if her witness buddy is going to pick her up. She says "No I don't want to call her because I'm going home to change and that'll make her late." So I chime in "Why don't you wear what you have on?" And she says well I have on pants and when I go to the hall I don't want to wear something that's inappropriate to jehovah." Keep in mind she was wearing a pantsuit. So I tell her, "It's a pantsuit, women can get away with wearing something of that style and look presentable. It's not like you have a talk or anything. I don't think jehovah is somewhere going, 'oh you can't serve me because you're decked out like Hilary Clinton', I'd think he'd be more concerned that you even showed up." Deaf ears, anyway, she says she's gonna find some info on appropriate dress for different times and I asked her to show me where specifically in the bible does it say that god detests a woman serving him in a pantsuit. I shouldn't hold my breath should I? Of course this is something the dubs made up and she'll present nothing. I mean I could've blasted her and said technically everyone at the hall is supposed to be newborn naked as clothes were/are an invention of man. But THAT would've been too deep. Oh and get this: Today there was a story on the radio about a guy who was mowing his lawn and his cell rung. He answered it, talked, then put it in his front pocket. Moments later he hears a loud BANG! and feels a jolt. He had been shot but the cell phone kept the bullet from entering him. He said he thinks this is god's way of telling him to keep his phone in his front pocket. Now, my aunt who was in the car goes "Yeah right" as if to say "sure, god cares where you put your cell phone". But this is the SAME EXACT LADY who thinks god cares about what type of formal attire she wears to the Kingdumb Hall. Something is horribly wrong with this photo yeah?

Our choices of doing or not doing regardless of their intent will lead to some bad things happening. God just can't shut this off. But if he does manage to do so he will kill of the very fascination that has grabbed his attention for all these years. With no choices being made by humans, god wouldn't have anything to do in this new system of his (not that he does jack anyway) So god knows where he can put his new system as far as Vachi is concerned.

My wife was in major JW mode last night, a few questions/comments I had

well last evening, after a pretty normal afternoon, my wife went out and when she came back she was pretty hyped up about the truth....she started to ask me some questions.....she started with the trinity (they gave her another copy of the trinity brochure yesterday) and all i did there was ask her to look at the first four verses of john, the verses in colossians where the wts added (other) and then the first bit of genesis....then simply asked the question...who created the heavens and the earth?

she went on a fact finding mission, never got an answer..... .

well of course she could not end with that....so she started on the existence of hell.....well question for you all here, she read some of the recent public edition wt and it talks about satan being subject to torment...in wts teaching is there a 'hell' for satan.. .

I hate major JW mode. My aunt does that. It's like on average we aren't talking much at all about what Jerkovah says then all of a sudden BAM! I'll be on my way to dropping her off at the diamond lanes and she'll go "Turn the radio down, I'm gonna read the daily text." Arghhhhhhhhh!!

Exactly, something stemming from god should not be so misconstrued that people have all kinds of mixed angles when it comes to the bible since this bible is supposedly the thing that is going to save everyone. This shouldn't be the tower of Babel. This shouldn't be the game where you have people in a room and someone whispers something to another and they're supposed to pass it around to the next. The reason why there is so much confusion is because god hasn't bothered to clean s--t up. And I'm supposed to worship this bum? That's rich.

Well, I don't do this often but to their credit, different people grieve in different ways. And then on the other side of things you're talking about a religion, if followed, which almost completely severs the gravity of the situation because of the hope of seeing them in a paradise. It's like if I got lottery numbers from the future, while other people are doing their whole "I promise to do this or that better" or "I'm going to make this big change if you just grant me this" thing I'd be sitting back relaxed as hell because I know that I would win. To the dubs, they're just asleep and the next memory that the deceased will have is waking up in that (crosses eyes) paradise Earth so the timespan between their death and resurrection is instantaneous. Kind of like when Doctor Brown sent Einstein one minute into the future. For Einey it was instant. For Doc and Marty a minute had passed.

"Unless, of course, you don't have a problem taking others' explanations for your own."-Slappy Slappy, isn't that exactly what people are doing when it comes to this relic? People wrote it, said they were inspired by god, and passed it down. If I wanted man back then to follow my agenda all I would have to say is "God told me so". And like Wizard said, we are using the bible to prove the bible. Imean it's like walking in on someone standing over a dead body and they go "I didn't do it." and you go "Oh well okay." What else are they gonna say? I was in California a couple months ago at a Starbucks and talked to the salesperson who was on a coffee break about this very same topic. We both traded some good views. HERE'S THE PROBLEM: That sentence about me visiting Cali was a complete lie. But if I hadn't told you that previous admittance you would've believed I got into a discussion with someone in California. The bible's problem is it's all about things that supposedly happened way back before even our great, great, great, great, great (to be cont'd) grandparents were even a gleam in THEIR parents eye. And we do not/can not have a universal absolute understanding of these events because everyone on Earth at this time was not around back then. So we're left with speculation on a topic that we can't prove either way and to wrap our minds around it or "put a face on it" we just go with it. If god wanted to he could/should stop the world and simultaneously speak to everyone of us and tell us what he wants (if anything). And if one makes the argument that the bible is that voice, he should tell us again and stop being so damn lazy. Is he too important? Wouldn't that be filed under pride? If your son/daughter asked you how to get to an out of the way location, would you tell them once and throw back a cold one while your child got lost and even came to the conclusion that there was never a you in the first place, or if there is that you're the biggest procrastinator in the history of procrastinator-dom? I'm just saying.

If you lived back then and were told of a vengeful all seeing deity who would smote thee unless you obeyed what they [humans] were telling you, you'd probably get on the ball. It's always been about control. Douchebags with insanely overactive imaginations who otherwise wouldn't be followed even if they dropped breadcrumbs.
